Alanya Buggy and ATV Safari: Two Hours of Dirt Roads in the Taurus Foothills

Just behind the resort strip of Alanya, the land rises quickly into pine-covered slopes cut by gravel tracks and shallow stream crossings. This Alanya Buggy and ATV Safari puts you in control of an automatic off-road vehicle and sends you along those tracks in a guided convoy, trading the sunbed for clouds of dust and splashes of mud.

A Door-to-Door Start Between Alanya and Mahmutlar

Transfers collect guests from hotels in central Alanya and along the eastern coast as far as Mahmutlar, including Oba, Tosmur and Kestel. Two departures run every day, at 10:00 and at 14:00, and you choose yours while booking. Keep in mind that the session time on your booking marks the start of the activity at the safari base. Your driver arrives earlier, and the exact pickup time is shared once your reservation is confirmed because it depends on where you are staying.

Getting a Feel for the Throttle

At the base the team hands out helmets, walks you through the throttle, brakes and hand signals, and lets you take a short test lap. The vehicles are automatic, so no licence or earlier experience is required, and the instructor watches each driver before the group sets off.

Pine Shade, Gravel and the Odd Puddle

The guide leads the convoy onto forest roads that climb and dip through the Taurus foothills. Expect loose gravel on the bends, dry sections that throw dust into the air and muddy patches after rain. The pace is set by the leader and adapted to the group, with quicker stretches where the track opens up.

A Pause Where the Valley Opens Up

Midway through, the column stops at a viewpoint so you can stretch your legs, drink some water and photograph the mountains with the coastline in the distance. Then it is back in the seat for the second leg toward the base.

One Seat or Two: Picking Your Ride

You can book a single ATV, a double ATV, a single buggy or a double buggy. Drivers must be at least 17 years old. Younger travellers join as passengers with an adult at the wheel, which makes the double options a natural fit for parents with teenagers or couples who prefer to share. For safety reasons the operator may limit the participation of very young children.

Dressing for Dust, Mud and Sun

Wear clothes you are happy to get dirty and closed shoes. Sunglasses and a bandana or neck buff help a lot on the dusty sections, and sunscreen is useful on the open stretches. These items are not provided, so bring your own.

Back to the Coast with Muddy Shoes

The activity finishes when the convoy rolls back into the base. Your return transfer leaves after that, and drop-off time varies with traffic and the location of your hotel.
