The Classic Old City Route

The suggested route opens at Hagia Sophia where Byzantine engineering and Ottoman craftsmanship meet under one enormous dome. From there you move to Topkapi Palace and its Harem quarters where four centuries of imperial life unfolded across courtyards and pavilions.

The afternoon brings the Blue Mosque with its cascading domes and six minarets and the open ground of the Hippodrome where chariots once raced past obelisks that still stand. You then descend into the Basilica Cistern and its forest of submerged columns.

Markets and Free Time

The day closes in the covered lanes of the Grand Bazaar and the fragrant aisles of the Spice Bazaar. Your guide can help you tell good workmanship from the ordinary and translate when you want to bargain properly.
