This is the full-throttle version of a day out from the coast. Open-top 4x4 Land Rovers head inland and grind up dusty forest tracks into the Taurus Mountains in convoy. Expect stone-strewn climbs, stream crossings that soak everyone on board and drivers who know exactly how much throttle each corner needs. The whole day runs on rough ground rather than asphalt.
The off-road section is the heart of the day and the reason thrill seekers book it. Tracks narrow into pine forest, the gradient stiffens and the convoy works its way up to roughly nine hundred metres above the sea. Hold the roll bar and watch the Antalya plain open out behind you.
High in the hills the convoy pulls into a working village of stone houses and shaded courtyards. Glasses of Turkish tea appear almost immediately and there is time to walk the lanes before the engines fire again. It is the one slow half hour in an otherwise loud day.
Lunch is served beside running water at a trout farm on the river. Grilled fish with salad and fresh bread is part of the ticket and vegetarian plates are available when you ask in advance. Meals are included in the price so you refuel and get straight back to the action.
Before the return leg the convoy stops at the river for the wettest part of the programme. The water runs cold and clear and the water fight that follows tends to involve every vehicle and most of the drivers. Seal phones and cameras in a waterproof bag because nobody stays dry.

the water fight at the river was completely unexpected, everyone in the convoy got soaked incuding the drivers. keep your phone in a proper bag, they warn you and they mean it. lunch at the trout place by the river was grilled fish and salad, simple but there was plenty
