Istanbul reveals its most graceful face in the final hour of daylight, and this two-hour voyage is timed to place you on the water exactly then. Instead of a crowded public ferry you step onto an elegant motor yacht that never carries more than 25 guests, so every seat stays close to the rail and conversation flows easily. A professional guide narrates the story of the strait while the crew keeps tea, Turkish coffee and light bites coming.
Your evening begins at a quiet pier in Karaköy, between the Galata Bridge and the Golden Horn Metro Bridge. After a short check-in the crew guides you aboard, where you can claim the spot on deck with the widest view before the lines are cast off.
As the yacht heads north, the marble frontage of Dolmabahçe Palace slides by, followed by Çırağan Palace and the slender silhouette of Ortaköy Mosque beneath the first Bosphorus bridge. Your guide fills in the Ottoman chapters behind each landmark so the skyline gains a voice.
Past the mansions of Arnavutköy and the graceful bay of Bebek, the strait narrows toward Rumeli Fortress, raised in 1452 ahead of the conquest of Constantinople. The yacht then swings across to the Asian side, tracing wooden waterfront mansions and Beylerbeyi Palace on the way back south.
Each departure is timed around sunset, so the sky turns amber and rose while you are still on the water. Near the Maiden's Tower the historic peninsula darkens into a row of domes and minarets, a classic frame for unhurried photographs.
Soft drinks such as tea, Turkish coffee, lemonade and water are served throughout the cruise together with nuts, crackers, chips and pretzels. Guests aged 18 and over may bring their own wine and the crew will gladly pour it. With no more than 25 people aboard, you can move freely between the best viewpoints.
Pickup from central Istanbul hotels takes place before the listed activity start time, and your exact pickup time is shared once your reservation is confirmed. In autumn and winter the cruise sets off at 16:30, and the departure moves later in spring and summer to keep pace with the sunset. Once the cruise ends back in Karaköy, the return transfer brings you to your hotel and drop-off time depends on traffic and your hotel location.
The time shown is the activity start time and not the pickup time. Your exact pickup time is arranged after your reservation is confirmed and depends on your hotel location.
