Side is about 65 km east of Antalya Airport (AYT), roughly an hour by road along the coastal highway. There is no train, and no direct bus that runs all year. So the realistic choices are a pre-booked private transfer, an airport taxi, a shared shuttle, a rental car, or a slower, multi-stage trip on public transport.
Short answer: if you want to be met at arrivals and driven straight to your hotel at a fixed price, book a private transfer. Taxis work but are metered, so you will not know the price in advance. Public transport is cheap, but with connections it takes 2.5–3.5 hours, and it is not practical with luggage or for late arrivals.
Antalya Airport to Side: Quick Comparison
Option | Typical journey time | Price basis | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
Private transfer | About 60–75 minutes | Fixed, agreed in advance | Families, groups, late arrivals, anyone with luggage |
Taxi | About 60–75 minutes | Metered | Spontaneous travel, when you have not booked |
Shared shuttle | Longer, with stops at several hotels | Per seat | Solo travellers on a budget |
Public transport | About 2.5–3.5 hours, with changes | Lowest | Light travellers with time to spare |
Rental car | About 60–75 minutes | Rental plus fuel | Travellers planning to explore by car |
How Far Is Side from Antalya Airport?
The drive is about 65 km, usually 60–75 minutes depending on traffic and exactly where your hotel is. Resort areas along the Side coast differ slightly:
Side centre, Kumköy, Sorgun, Titreyengöl and Manavgat: around an hour in normal traffic.
Evrenseki, Kızılağaç, Çolaklı and Kızılot: further east, so allow extra time.
Ways to Get from Antalya Airport to Side
Private Transfer
A private transfer takes you from the terminal to your hotel door without stopping for other passengers. With Maxtoria's Side transfers:
a driver meets you at the arrivals exit, and your flight is tracked so the pickup follows your actual landing time
the price is fixed at booking, and you pay on the day
child seats are available on request, so give your children's ages when you book
cancellation is free up to 24 hours before
Pickup covers Side centre, Kumköy, Evrenseki, Çolaklı, Sorgun, Titreyengöl, Manavgat, Kızılağaç and Kızılot. For larger groups, the private Sprinter transfer for 7–16 people fits everyone and their luggage in one vehicle. Compare all Side transfers, or book through Maxtoria airport transfers.
Good to know: give your flight number when booking. If your flight is delayed by more than an hour and the operator has not been told, a surcharge may apply.
Taxi from Antalya Airport
Taxis wait outside the arrivals terminals. They are metered, and fares are set by the municipality, so the final price depends on the distance to your hotel and the traffic. It is usually much more than a per-seat option, and you will not know the exact figure in advance.
Tips: make sure the meter is on when you set off, have your hotel's name and address ready (in Turkish if possible), and carry some Turkish lira, because not every taxi takes cards.
Public Transport
There is no direct, year-round bus from the airport to Side. The usual route has three stages:
an airport bus or tram into Antalya, to the city centre or the intercity bus station (otogar)
an intercity bus or minibus east to Manavgat
a dolmuş (minibus) from Manavgat to Side, a short final leg
It is the cheapest option, but allow 2.5–3.5 hours with connections. It is not practical with heavy luggage, with young children, or after a late-evening arrival. Some seasonal airport shuttles run towards Side in summer, but check before you rely on them.
Shared Shuttle
Some operators run shared shuttles that are sold per seat and stop at several hotels along the way. They cost less than a private vehicle for one or two people, but the journey takes longer.
Rental Car
Several car rental desks operate at Antalya Airport. Driving to Side is straightforward on the main coastal highway, and a car is handy if you plan day trips inland. It is not worth it if you will mostly stay at your hotel.
Private Transfer or Taxi: Which Should You Choose?
Choose a private transfer if you are travelling with family or in a group, arriving late at night, carrying a lot of luggage, or want to know the price in advance.
Choose a taxi if you have not pre-booked and just want to leave quickly.
Choose public transport only if you are travelling light, have time, and are arriving during the day.
Arriving at Antalya Airport
Antalya Airport has separate international and domestic terminals. Check which terminal your flight uses, and give it when you book a transfer. After passport control and baggage reclaim, your driver waits at the arrivals exit with a name sign. If you cannot see them, call the driver's number, which you will receive before you land.
Getting Back to Antalya Airport from Side
Allow about an hour for the drive, plus time for check-in and security. For an international flight, aim to leave Side around three hours before departure. Book the return transfer when you book your arrival, or at least a day in advance, and confirm the pickup time with the operator.
Tips for Your Arrival
Mobile data: set up an eSIM before you fly, so you can message your driver or hotel as soon as you land.
Cash: carry some Turkish lira for taxis, tips and small purchases.
Hotel address: save your hotel's full name and address, including the area (for example Kumköy or Kızılağaç), since several hotels have similar names.
Entry rules: check Türkiye's visa or e-visa requirements for your nationality before you travel.
