extraordinary landscape two stops. Salda genuinely turquoise, swimming area cold but refreshing, Pamukkale travertines untouched in photos but real ones better. Hierapolis added depth. lunch filling. early 4:30 start brutal, bus comfort wavered on return. still worth every hour.

About this activity
Pamukkale and Salda Lake Tour from Alanya, a Day Painted in White and Turquoise
This long day trip links two landscapes that look almost unreal in photos: the chalk-white travertine cascades of Pamukkale and the vivid turquoise of Salda Lake. Lunch and your entrance ticket to the Pamukkale and Hierapolis site are already part of the price, so once the coach leaves Alanya all you need to do is enjoy the day.
Before Dawn on the Taurus Road
The day begins in darkness. After the hotel collection round, the coach heads west along the coast towards Antalya and then turns inland to climb into the Taurus Mountains. Most guests doze through the first hours, and a morning rest stop gives you time to stretch, buy breakfast and wake up properly before the Lakes Region unfolds beyond the window.
Where the Shoreline Turns to Powder
Salda Lake lies in the Yeşilova district of Burdur, and its fame comes from the contrast between dazzling white shores and water that shifts from pale aquamarine to deep blue. Scientists study its mineral deposits because of their similarity to Jezero Crater on Mars, a link your guide will happily explain. You have time for photos along the shore and, in the warmer months, for a swim in the designated beach area. Parts of the shoreline are strictly protected, so follow your guide’s directions on where you may walk and swim.
A Well-Earned Table in the Valley
From Salda the road descends towards Denizli, and lunch is served at a local restaurant near Pamukkale. It is a relaxed, sit-down break that restores your energy before the walking part of the afternoon. Drinks are paid for separately.
Stone Streets of the Holy City
In Roman times Hierapolis was a thriving spa town whose healing waters drew visitors from far away. With your guide you can discover landmarks such as the grand theatre, the colonnaded Frontinus Street and the sprawling necropolis, one of the largest in Anatolia. Your entrance ticket covers this whole archaeological area together with the travertines.
Barefoot Across the Cotton Castle
Pamukkale means “cotton castle” in Turkish, and the name makes sense the moment you see the calcium terraces spilling down the hillside. Shoes are not allowed on the travertines, so you wade barefoot through shallow pools of warm, mineral-rich water. Free time here lets you take photos at your own pace. If you would like to swim among submerged marble columns, Cleopatra’s Antique Pool is close by and can be visited with a separate ticket.
What Your Booking Already Covers
The price includes hotel transfers, the air-conditioned coach, a professional guide, lunch, insurance and the combined Pamukkale and Hierapolis entrance ticket. Only Cleopatra’s Antique Pool, drinks and any food you buy at the rest stops are extra. The order of the stops may change depending on traffic and conditions on the day.
Twilight Miles Back to Alanya
In the late afternoon the coach turns back towards the Mediterranean. The return journey takes several hours and includes a rest stop where you can pick up dinner or a snack before the final stretch. The tour ends in the Alanya area late in the evening, followed by the transfer to your hotel.

masterpiece of a day. turquoise Salda took my breath, barefoot Pamukkale walk spiritual, ancient city history through guide's words came alive. Turkish lunch spot-on. only issue: AC bus weak heading back to Alanya so sweated buckets. but vistas alone justified it.

absolutely STUNNING day but prepare for 18 hours of bus time. Salda's turquoise water genuinely looks fake, white beaches pristine, and Pamukkale barefoot on those travertines unforgettable. lunch was solid Turkish food. only complaint: bus AC got weak on return—roasted on the drive back.
- James L.
brilliant but brutal. Salda Lake's mineral makeup vs Mars craters fact was wild, white sand beaches, pamukkale's chalk-white slopes, barefoot terrace walk surreal. Hierapolis theater impressive. sun was RELENTLESS, no shade whatsoever, got burnt bad. bus ride back felt endless.
